Steve Anderson to run for President

Hampton Rovers are thrilled to announce club legend Stephen Anderson has nominated for the position of Senior President. After three seasons at the helm, the position will be vacated by Matthew Gray at the upcoming AGM.

Stephen, a grandson of the famous Robert Cave, and the Anderson family have a long proud history with the Rovers.

Stephen commence playing Juniors in 1982 and amazingly in 2015, is still playing in both Reserves and Thirds teams. He won the Senior Best and Fairest in the Rovers’ 1995 premiership year, the club’s first premiership in 44 years. In 2000, Stephen was named Senior Captain, which he served for 3 seasons including the 2001 premiership.

Following on from 146 Junior games, Stephen has since played a further 317 Senior games, totalling a massive 463 games for the Club.

Stephen has a rich understanding of the Hampton Rovers Football Club and its proud culture. He has seen the club develop from a humble suburban club to become the benchmark of local sporting clubs which it is now regarded.

On a professional front, Stephen holds a Senior Management role at Coca-Cola Amatil, where he has worked for over 15 years. Commercial relations, people management and strong processes are Stephen’s areas of expertise, all of which he will bring with his role as Senior President. Married to Maddie, together they have four children.

Stephen has the unanimous support by all involved with the Rovers and has a strong connection with all that have walked through the doors at Boss James Reserve for well over five decades.

The Hampton Rovers couldn’t be happier when Stephen confirmed his intention to take on the role. With newly appointed Senior Coach Owen Lalor already well into planning for 2016, the future both on and off the field is extremely bright for the Rovers, with sights firmly on a VAFA Premier birth in the near future.

The 2015 Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday 30th November at Boss James Reserve.
