Juniors Update – August 21

Last weekend was a massive weekend of Finals footy for the Club. Well done to all who competed and all who volunteered their time to assisted on the day.

Finals Footy at Rovers

Under 11 South / White.
Our Under 11 boys played the top side ( St.Bedes / Mentone).  Brendan had the Rover boys on a very strict Pasta diet all week to extract all the energy needed in a final. We were relentless and very determined and all the wise and worldly pundits profess you need to lose a final to win one. Well they did the club proud and look out next year. Well done Brendan.

Under 12 Blue
The Angus Graham coached Under 12 boys have been well drilled all season. Playing St.Kilda City who finished fourth but have been the club who have troubled our team the most.
Sunday was no exception. We kicked three goals in the first quarter to one point and this was enough. St.Kilda City played really well and nearly over ran our boys. Well Done Gus and good luck in the Grand Final this week against Cheltenham.

Under 13 Div 3
What a fantastic story this team has been. Greg and Mark have done a great job. We had to win the last game of the year to make the finals and did. The first week of the fianls we came up against top side Dingley. Playing one of their best games of the year the Rovers Under 13’s won by a point to go through to the GF. How good is this great game. 4th beat 1st and 3rd beat 2nd.
Good luck against Oakleigh this week.

Under 14 Div 5
Another great story. This team has been made up of Under 13’s and Under 14’s . Finishing no top and will have the week off after taking care of Prahran on the weekend by ten goals .
Enjoy the break and eat lots of pasta between now and the 30th .

Under 14 Div 2
Mil ( in between taking calls from Carlton as a possible replacement for Mick and John Barker ) had his boys fired up for St. Peters . Everything clicked on the day and our boys were comfortable winners. We will front Ajax in a Prelim this weekend. Good luck boys and well done.

Under 16 Div 1
The Battle of the two Bayside powerhouses in Hampton v Beaumaris was always going to be a tough affair. Rovers were always looking the better side early but couldn’t convert. Once the boys settled they placed some much needed scoreboard pressure on the Shark boys. The final score of HR 9.8 – 62 def. Beauie 4.7 – 31. Through to another Grand Final . Enjoy the week off and well done .

Girls Football
The AFL and the SMJFL are making a huge push to promote more girls teams in Community Football Clubs. We have had teams in the past and there are currently girls and women within the Hampton Rovers community who have made enquiries into the development of girls football at our club. It would be great to have one or more girls teams next year. Please let us know if you are interested in participating in a girls team in 2016.

All the Best to all our teams this week.
