Rovers host Old Melburnians

Hampton Rovers host third-placed Old Melburnians at Boss James Reserve on Saturday in the second-last home game of the 2015 season, while the U19s have a crucial clash against Ormond.

While the Rovers sit in no-man’s land, safe from relegation and unable to reach finals, Saturday’s opponents currently sit third on the Premier B ladder, a win and percentage behind the second-placed Tigers.

With such a critical game for the U19s and several players dropping out of the seniors to focus on getting the unders’ into the finals, there are seven changes to the side that lost to Fitzroy last week. Danny Corp returns from injury while Jake Connell gets his first crack in the ones.

With three games remaining in the season, the Rovers will be looking to finish the year strongly. Last time they met, Old Melburnians ran out comfortable winners at the Junction Oval and while it’ll be a tough contest, the boys are sure to give it their all. Next week the Rovers are at home again hosting Ajax before facing local rivals Parkdale Vultures away in the final round of the season.

Get along to Boss James Reserve and show your support. The Seniors kick-off at 2pm with the Reserves at 11:40am. Live Scores are available on the Rovers website and mobile site with updates on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram.

It’s not too late to book for the Home Game Luncheon. Just $30 per head for the best lunch in the Ammo’s. You can’t go wrong! We’ll be celebrating the 1965 Reserves Premiership win and recognising the 80th anniversary of Ken Trinnick winning the 1935 VAFA Best & Fairest. The Under 19s have a crucial clash against local rivals Ormond away at EE Gunn Reserve commencing at 2:00pm. After last week’s defeat, the Rovers dropped to fifth position and must win on Saturday to overtake their opponents and return to the final four, with one game remaining. A few handy ins will boost the Rovers chances as they defend their premiership, albeit in the division above.
