Hampton Rovers take on Mazenod this Saturday at Central Reserve in the final round before the two-week break and the Rovers will be looking for a repeat performance of round one.
Hampton kicked-off their 2015 campaign with a 69-point victory over the Nodders at Boss James Reserve and since then it has been an up and down season with the club currently sitting sixth on the Premier B ladder on four wins.
Mazenod are ninth on three wins and for the Rovers to get their season back on track, a win is vital. Coach Martyn announced five changes on Thursday evening to the side that lost to St Bedes/Mentone last round. In come a number of young-guns and premiership players including Christian Carnovale and Harry Hill for their first Rovers game of the season.
After this weekend, all senior VAFA Premier divisions have two weeks off which is a welcome relief for the Rovers on the injury front. The players have had a big week on the track and are ready for a strong performance on Saturday to go into the break on a positive note.
Mazenod now play on Oval 2 at Central Reserve (also home of the Richmond/Monash Premier Cricket Club) – next door to the main ground where they used to play at. Corner Springvale Rd & Waverley Rd in Glen Waverley. We encourage all Rovers supporters to get along and cheer on the team in this vital game. Seniors kick-off at 2pm with the Reserves at 11:40am.
LIVE SCORES of the main game (and all senior VAFA games) are available on the Hampton Rovers website and mobile site (click here) as well as updates all day on Twitter (@HRAFC) & Instagram (hamptonrovers). Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook also.
It’s a double-header at Boss James Reserve with the Thirds and Under 19s in action. First up at 11:40am, the Thirds take on PEGS. There are a few spots available for any players keen and a few jobs that need to be filled. Please get in touch with Michael Freedman and help out the team.
At 2:00pm, the Hampton Rovers Under 19s face local rivals Ormond in a replay of last year’s Grand Final. Earlier this year, the Rovers went down and the boys will be looking to turn that result around in this must-win game. If you’re unable to get out to Mazenod then come down to the Boss and cheer on the young Rovers.
Following Saturday’s matches, the bar at Boss James Reserve will be open and all supporters are welcome back at the club.
