Rovers host St Bedes/Mentone

Hampton Rovers host local rivals St Bedes/Mentone Tigers at Boss James Reserve on Saturday to kick-off the second half of the 2015 season.

It’s a big home game against the second-placed Tigers who came down from Premier division.  Injuries and unavailability’s have somewhat weakened the Rovers side with five changes but there’s still plenty of quality out there to challenge for the win.

When the two teams met at Brindisi Street in round 2, the Rovers held a three point lead at the final change but a big final quarter by the home side gave them a big win. The Tigers have lost three games in 2015, against St Kevin’s, Old Melburnians and Fitzroy. The Rovers form has been up and down and most recently went down to Fitzroy last week in a disappointing result.

We welcome everyone along to the Boss to show your support in this big game. Seniors kick-off at 2pm with the Reserves at 11:40am.

LIVE SCORES of the main game (and all senior VAFA games) are available on the Hampton Rovers website and mobile site (click here) as well as updates all day on Twitter (@HRAFC) & Instagram (hamptonrovers). Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook also.

Prior to the game is the Rovers-Zebras Luncheon with a number of guests from Sandringham Football Club in attendance. As of Thursday evening, 80 people had already booked their spot so get in quick. It commences at 12 midday, costs $30 per head, and includes a quality main meal, cheese & biscuits, with drinks available at bar prices. Bookings are essential – please contact Gary Nash on or 0407 313 054 to reserve your spot.

Unfortunately the Thirds have been forced to forfeit Saturday’s game due to injuries and unavailability’s across the four senior teams. The game was scheduled for a 9:20am start at Castlefield against Monash Blues.

Elsewhere, the Under 19s travel to Bulleen to face Old Carey, commencing at 2:00pm.

Following the game, the bar will be open, and later in the night is the second big Rovers function of the season, also in combination with the Zebras – the Hampton Rovers Frat Party, kicking-off at 7:30pm.
