Prior to this Saturday’s big home game against local rivals St Bedes/Mentone Tigers, the annual Hampton Rovers-Sandringham Zebras luncheon will be held in the Wright-Scarlett Pavilion.
The luncheon forms part of the official relationship between the Rovers and the VFL club. The inaugural lunch last year was a sell-out and another full house is expected at the Boss this Saturday. Coach Paul Hudson and President Danny Corcoran will be amongst the guests from Trevor Barker Oval.
Sandringham has the bye this weekend and the club currently sits fifth on the VFL ladder, equal on points with top side Williamstown and have won their past three matches including wins over top 8 sides Port Melbourne and Werribee.
Several Rovers players are currently at the Zebras including Luke Verma while Sandringham players including Adam Cockie and Trent Dennis-Lane who have their home club listed as the Rovers, are regularly at senior home matches supporting boys. It’s a healthy relationship between the two Bayside club’s and looks set to continue well into the future. Read more about the relationship here.
The lunch this Saturday commences at 12 midday, costs $30 per head, and includes a quality main meal, cheese & biscuits, with drinks available at bar prices. Bookings are essential – please contact Gary Nash on email@example.com or 0407 313 054 to reserve your spot.
The lunch will be followed by the big local derby between the Hampton Rovers and second-placed St Bedes/Mentone Tigers who visit Boss James Reserve for the first time since 2006.
Following the game, the bar will be open, and later in the night is the second big Rovers function of the season, also in combination with the Zebras – the Hampton Rovers Frat Party, kicking-off at 7:30pm.
