Footy’s back and the Rovers are back at home on Saturday, hosting Fitzroy FC at Boss James Reserve in round 9 of the 2015 VAFA Premier B season.
After week off over the long weekend and two away games prior to that, the Rovers look forward to returning to their home deck for the first time in a month in a battle between 5th and 6th on the ladder.
A number of big ins were announced at selection on Thursday evening with five players returning to the line-up, four of them premiership players from last year, including Josh Schmitz coming in for his first game of 2015.
The Rovers sit fifth on the ladder on four wins and just a game off second spot, while Fitzroy have had three wins – two of them coming in the past two rounds with victories over St Bedes/Mentone and Parkdale Vultutres. We won’t mention the scoreline from when the two teams last met in 2012, except to say it’s sure to be a much closer contest this week.
Mostly sunny conditions are expected on Saturday and we encourage everyone to get along and cheer on the boys as they look to close out the first half of the season with another win. The Seniors kick-off at 2:00pm with the Reserves at 11:40am.
