Seniors

Rd2 Preview: Rovers v Tigers

Hampton Rovers make the short trip to Brindisi Street on Saturday to face local rivals St Bedes/Mentone Tigers in round two of the 2015 VAFA Premier B season. Meanwhile, the U19s will unfurl their premiership flag at Boss James Reserve.

After a solid victory in round one, defeating Mazenod by 69 points, the next three games will be a big test for the Rovers, facing the two relegated sides from Premier section as well as the flag favourites. The Tigers are always a tough prospect at the tight Mentone Reserve – they know how to play their ground. It’s been a while between drinks with the last meeting in 2006 where SBMT won big on both occasions and prior to that it was 2003 with a 1pt win to Hampton and a draw.

The Rovers look to have a good side in and will be further boosted by a few Zebras including. The 22 will be finalised Saturday morning. View the squads here >

A big crowd is expected and we encourage everyone to get along and cheer the Rovers. The Seniors kick-off at 2:00pm with the Reserves at 11:40am. Live Scores are available on the Rovers website and mobile site (click here) as well as updates on Twitter (@HRAFC).

The Under 19s face Old Geelong at Boss James Reserve and will unfurl their premiership flag, as the seniors did last weekend, prior to the start of the game which kicks-off at 2pm. John Cesario’s men had a good first-up win over St Bernards in round one and the OGS recorded a big victory over Ormond so it’ll be a tough test for the boys.

Prior to the Unders, the Thirds also play their first home game of the season, taking on Marcellin commencing at 11:40am. Good to see plenty of players jumping on board however we do require some help off the field including a timekeeper, goal umpire and boundary umpire. If you’re interested in assisting, please contact coach Michael Freedman on 0432 598 321. Players to be at the ground by 10:30am.
