The 2015 VAFA Premier B season kicks-off this Saturday and it promises to be a big day at Boss James Reserve with the unfurling of the premiership flag followed by the big game between the Rovers and Mazenod.
The club makes the jump in successive years and this is no doubt the biggest jump of all – now competing in the second-highest division of the VAFA. With minimal player losses, a number of recruits and the same successful coaching panel, the club is in better shape this time around than in previous attempts at B grade. An unblemished record in pre-season resulted in wins over Ormond, Albion and Mordialloc, however Saturday will prove a far greater test taking on a quality side in Mazenod.
A good crowd was on hand Thursday evening including a large group of supporters for the first team selection of the year. Also announced were the leaders for 2015. Daniel Corp will join the captain of the past three seasons Leigh Fletcher as co-captains of the Rovers in 2015 and they’ll be assisted by vice-captains Mark Devereaux and Jesse Lovig. Nick Jewell will lead the Reserves while Ryan Fogarty will skipper the Under 19s.
Four players are set to make their debut for the club in the Seniors on Saturday while another will make his return. Be at the club Thursday’s to hear the team or check your inbox!
