Hampton Rovers completed their pre-season with a 57 point win over Mordialloc in the final practice game before the 2015 VAFA season kicks-off.
In fine conditions at Ben Kavanagh Reserve and on a great surface, the Rovers were slow out of the blocks trailing by three points at the first break. But a 10-goal second quarter including seven unanswered set up a big win against the newly promoted SFL division one side.
There were plenty of positive signs for the Rovers as they dominated the centre clearances and peppered the southern goals while restricting the opposition as they attempted to go forward.
The home side kicked the first three of the third term but the Rovers responded with Corp moved up front and kicking three consecutive goals, he finished with five. The margin extended to 65 points at three-quarter time and a one goal to two final term brought it back to 57 as the final siren sounded.
It was another quality hit-out for the boys and all attention now shifts to round one of the VAFA Premier B season Saturday-week with the Rovers hosting Mazenod at Boss James Reserve where the 2014 premiership flag will be unveiled pre-game.
Earlier in the day, the Under 19s played Beaumaris and recorded a three goal win and the Reserves/Thirds had a comprehensive 75-point victory over Mordialloc.
Prior to round one, the Hampton Rovers hosts the 2015 SEASON LAUNCH – Thursday (Good Friday-eve) at Hotel Brighton. We encourage all players & partners, family and supporters along for what will be a big night to kick-off 2015. For full details and to pre-purchase tickets, click here.
