Hampton Rovers had their first practice hit-out of 2015 on Sunday with three solid matches against rivals Ormond. The Seniors recorded a 55-point victory.
In warm conditions and on a hard playing surface at Parkdale Secondary College, the Rovers had the majority of their premierships stars in action but still had several key players missing.
New recruit Matt Robbins playing against his former side kicked five goals and set up a couple more. It was good to see a few youngers also getting some game time and stepping up to senior football.
Hampton controlled the game and led at each break to claim a 55-point win. The boys looked good and the coaches were happy with the performance saying they are ahead of where they were this time last year.
The Reserves and Under 19s also had good hit-outs against Ormond but couldn’t come away with wins.
Next Saturday the Rovers travel to Sunshine to face WRFL side Albion. Further details will be posted on the website later in the week. Training continues Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 6pm at Boss James Reserve.
