Mark Devereaux won the 2014 Hampton Rovers Best & Fairest award at Friday’s Presentation Night while Annie Westhead and John Cesario were awarded Life Membership of the club.
It was a great evening at the Sandringham Football Club as the Rovers celebrated two Premierships with around 160 people in attendance.
The vote count for the seniors commenced at round 14 and at that stage, Devereaux was a big leader on 154 votes, 68 ahead of second-placed Jay Ting. However he sustained an injury in that match against PEGS and wouldn’t return until the Grand Final. He didn’t poll another vote but managed to hold on, with Adam McNeil finished second on 129 votes, while Leigh Fletcher who had won the previous five B&F’s, came third. Ed Turner, Jesse Lovig and Richard Atkins were the other award winners. View all the votes here.
In the Reserves, Nick Jewell claimed the Dom Devola Medal, ahead of veteran Steve Anderson. Vincent Camera was a big winner in the Thirds, 87 votes ahead of runner-up William Wright.
Campbell Jones won the U19 B&F in their Premiership year, winning the McGregor Medal on 83 votes in a tight on, with Mackie Robertson runner-up on 81 votes. Sam Care won the Mark Johannsen Memorial Trophy for best team man while Josh Elston and Jack Stewart were the other award winners.
Best Clubman for 2014 was awarded to Tony Naumoff who has done a fantastic job for the club as secretary and continues to do a lot of work behind the scenes to keep the club ticking along.
In the final presentations of the night and most prestigious, Annie Westhead and John Cesario were awarded with Life Membership. Both have had long associations with the club in both the junior and seniors and were part of the U19 Premiership in official capacities this season.
