Semi Final: Rovers v Marcellin

The Seniors and Under 19s are in action as the VAFA Finals get underway on Saturday. The big one is at Trevor Barker Oval with the Seniors taking on Marcellin for a spot in the Grand Final and promotion to Premier B.

The Rovers have had a solid week on the track including a run at Sandringham on Tuesday evening. Coach Guy Martyn announced the teams on Thursday evening and there are five changes to the side with some big inclusions.

The minor-premiers Marcellin have lost just three times in 2014 but two of them were to Hampton, by an aggregate of 121 points. Finals is a different proposition though and it promises to be a tough contest. For the winner, it’s straight through to the season-decider in a fortnight and automatic promotion to Premier B section for 2015 while the loser will face up again next week to play the winner of Sunday’s Monash-Parkdale final.

All the action in the VAFA Premier C 2nd Semi Final gets underway from 2:00pm at Trevor Barker Oval, Beach Rd Sandringham. The club encourages everyone to get along and show your support for what’s a massive day for the Hampton Rovers Football Club. Click here for all the details including admission prices.

The Rovers will be in the away change rooms situated under the social club up the northern end. The club encourages all supporters to congregate at this end of the ground and near the bench.

The Under 19s get it all started early on, going for ten-straight wins when they take on De La Salle in the 1st Semi Final at Waverley Oval on Malvern/Waverley Rds in East Malvern commencing at 9:20am. Entry is free.

You can get updates from both games by following the Rovers on Twitter (@HRAFC), Instagram and Facebook. Live scores of the seniors match will be available on the Rovers website and mobile site.

The Roverians are hosting a game-day function at Gary Nash’s house following the U19s match and prior to the Seniors. There will be a BBQ and drinks available. It’s free for all Roverians members & U19 players and a small charge for others. All Rovers supporters are welcome, between 11:30am & 1:30pm. 32 Bridge St, Hampton – a short 10 minute walk from Trevor Barker Oval.

Following the Seniors game, everyone is welcome for a drink in the Sandringham social rooms before heading to the official after-match function from about 5:30pm at the Hampton RSL, Holyrood St Hampton (due to another function being held at Boss James).
