GERRARD WOODS TO NOMINATE FOR ROVERS CHAIRMAN AT 2014 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Former Hampton Rovers Junior and Senior player Gerrard Woods has agreed to nominate for the role of the Club’s Board Chairman at the upcoming AGM.
Gerrard is well known to the Rovers family, having been a player for a long time (243 club games) and, more recently, as Managing Director of Rovers’ sponsor Sportsmart.
Outgoing Chairman Mark Brayshaw expressed his delight in Gerrard’s decision. “We are thrilled at Gerrard wanting to get involved as Chairman of the Board. He will bring an ideal background to the role and an intimate understanding of our Club. Importantly, Gerrard knows how the Juniors and Seniors work and how critical it is to the Club’s success that this synergy continues. My time will end at this year’s AGM, as the last of my sons finishes as a Player this year. So it was really important that we identified a suitable candidate for the Members at Novembers’ AGM.”
Gerrard was happy to get back involved. “I love the Club and have wonderful memories as a Player for the Juniors and Seniors. More recently, as I have established a family and our business at Sportsmart, I have stepped back and watched the Club from a afar. I’m now in a position to take on this role and look forward to making another contribution to the Club – this time off the field.”
Hampton Rovers Members will be invited to nominate for the Board at this year’s AGM. Mark Brayshaw has signalled his intention to resign at that time and hand over to the next Chairman.
The 2014 Hampton Rovers AGM will be held on Monday 24 November at Boss James Reserve.
