Big Day at the Boss: Rovers host Rupo

It’s a triple-header at Boss James Reserve on Saturday with all three teams in action, culminating in the Seniors round 12 clash against Rupertswood. It’s set to be a massive day so make sure you get along.

For the first time this year, the senior side doesn’t include any debutants or new players, however there are six changes from the last game against Marcellin. Out go some of the young guns and in comes experience.

The teams last met in round one at Sunbury with a convincing 121 win to Rupo however we should mention the last time the two teams met at Boss James, round 18 2008, on that occasion it was the Rovers by 150 points. On a serious note, the Rovers have improved significantly in recent weeks and were most competitive against the top side Marcellin in the last game before the break.

Hampton Rovers go into Saturday’s game with a chance and need your support so make sure you get along and support the boys as they aim for their maiden win of the season. Seniors at 2:00pm and Reserves at 11:40am.

The Under 19s get underway at 9:20am, taking on Peninsula. Following last week’s six-point win over St Bedes Mentone (that’s a 160-point turnaround from their round six encounter), the boys will be looking for another positive performance. Get down early and show your support for the Rovers future.

It’s a massive day for the club. As part of AFL Women’s Round, we’re hosting our annual Ladies Lunch, raising funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. This lunch is close to fully booked with over 100 people already confirmed, the majority of them women. Show your support on the day by wearing pink!

Chelsey Tregear who’ll be playing in Sunday’s ANZ Championship Grand Final with the Melbourne Vixens will be guest speaker along with breast cancer survivor and Queensland Firebirds player, Elissa MacLeod. For any last-minute bookings, please click here for details.

Following the seniors game at approximately 4:30pm, the Bar will be open and we invite everyone in for refreshments. Match awards for the three games will take place at around 5:30pm.
