Ahmat guest speaker for lunch

To commemorate AFL Indigenous Round this weekend, former Collingwood & Sydney player Robbie Ahmat will be guest speaker at this Saturday’s Luncheon at Boss James Reserve for the Hampton Rovers home game against Marcellin.

Hampton Rovers face third-placed Marcellin in the second game on the new playing surface as the Rovers still search for their first win of the season and will be buoyed by the inclusion of several young guns.

As we look to the future and the development of these, and other young players coming via our junior teams, this week’s match function is aptly named the Future Stars Luncheon.

This weekend is also the AFLs Indigenous Round, celebrating the enormous contribution that Indigenous communities make to Australian Rules Football. Hampton Rovers’ acknowledgement has been to secure ex Collingwood and Sydney Swans player Robbie Ahmat as our special guest speaker. Come along and listen to Robbie’s journey from Darwin as a 17 year old, into the AFL, (Robbie played between 1995-2001) then life after football and his current role with ANZ. (Ironically, Robbie did his year 12 studies at Marcellin while he was playing with Collingwood).

What better reason to come along and support the club, as we search for our first win of the season. After a full-house of 100 people at last week’s luncheon, we’re looking for another solid turnout. So book your seat/table now and enjoy an eye fillet steak, a glass of your favourite beverage, and support Hampton Rovers. Saturday from 12pm at Boss James Reserve, cnr David St & Bluff Rd Hampton. Cost $30 per head.
