The Hampton Rovers make the short trek to Banksia Reserve on Saturday to face local rivals Beaumaris Sharks. Following last weeks performance, the Rovers will go in with renewed confidence.
The young Rovers side played their best game of the season against Oakleigh last week but came up four points short in a tight contest and the boys will be fired up for the local derby this Saturday.
This is the third consecutive year for the Rovers in B section of the VAFA, and that run will come to an end with relegation all but guaranteed, while the Sharks have taken their promotion to the second top division well, currently sitting sixth on the ladder. This year was the first time the two teams had met since 2005 and Saturday will be the final time the Rovers get to have a crack at their rivals for at least a season.
Make sure you get along to Banksia Reserve in Oak Street to support the boys as they try to notch their first win of the season. The Seniors get underway at 2:00pm with the Reserves at 11:40am.
Live scores will be available via the Hampton Rovers Twitter feed: @HRAFC
The Thirds play their final game of the season on Saturday taking on Hawthorn away at Rathmines Road Reserve at 11:40am. Congratulations to playing-coach Michael Flahive who notches up his 200th club (and VAFA) game for the Hampton Rovers. Flahivey has been with the Rovers since 1997 and has done an outstanding job this year taking on the role as coach of the Thirds.
The Under 19s play the Northern Bullants at Boss James Reserve, commencing at 2:00pm.
As a mark of repsect to the death of past player Andrew Landrigan, all four senior sides will wear black armbands this weekend.
The Rovers Bar will be open following the game and all supporters and players are welcome back. Awards for all four senior teams will take place at around 6pm.
