Under 19

Rovers U19 Fixture announced

The countdown to the 2011 U19 season is on with the VAFA releasing the fixture and the Hampton Rovers facing Old Mentonians first-up.

The Rovers, under the guidance of returning super-coach Tony “Freddy” Naumoff, will compete in South (1) division. Only games for the first half of the season have been released. In a new initiative, at the mid-way point of the season, the VAFA will re-arrange teams according to ladder position, resulting in a more even competition.

The Rovers of course defeated Old Mentonians in the U19 Grand Final in 2009 and quite a rivalry has developed at that level. Only a handful of players remain in the U19’s from that day, and with plenty of new faces, the boys are looking forward to the start of the new season. Freddy, who previously coached several Rovers junior sides and the Reserves, before coaching seniors at the Monash Gryphons, returns to Hampton in 2011 and is looking forward to the challenge ahead.

The club is still looking for more players to complete the Under 19 squad for 2011. If you’re interested in playing, please contact the coach Tony Naumoff on 0418 390 865 or email naumofft@gmail.com. A Rovers U19 2011 Facebook Group has also been set-up to assist communication, all players should join – Click Here.

The Under 19’s will play their first practice game of 2011 when they play St Pauls this Saturday at Boss James Reserve at 10am. (The Reserves play at 12pm with the Seniors at 2pm). While the season-proper kicks-off against Old Mentonians away on Saturday 9th April. Other teams in the section include Ajax, Oakleigh, Caulfield, Ormond and Old Haileybury.
