Final Round: Rovers at home v St Kevins

The Hampton Rovers take on St Kevins in the final round of the 2010 season this Saturday at Boss James Reserve. Get along to see the Rovers for the final time this year.

For the Rovers it’s been a largely disappointing second half of the season with injuries and unavailability’s hitting the team hard and failing to win a number of very winnable games. However consolidating B Grade for another season has been a positive and the club is looking forward to a strong 2011. The boys will be fired up and looking to finish the season on a high.

It’s Matty Robbins final game in charge of the Rovers following the announcement yesterday that he is stepping down from his position at the end of the season and will be playing with the Rovers in 2011.

St Kevins currently sit third on the VAFA Premier B ladder equal with four other clubs on 44 points. While Old Carey sit on top on 52 points, only three of the next four sides can play finals. The visitors on Saturday will be looking for a win to ensure they’re one of those sides while a loss could see them miss out.

By all reports St Kevins have a few big names out, as do the Rovers. It promises to be a tough encounter and a great game to finish off the year. Get along and show your support for the boys one more time in 2010 as they look to pull off an upset. The Seniors get underway at 2:00pm with the Reserves at 11:40am. In the early game, leading the team out will be Lachie Wheeler who plays his 200th VAFA game for the club. He is the fifth Hampton Rovers player to reach this outstanding milestone this year. Get along early to show your support and see him run out on to the ground.

Final bookings are now being taken for the last home game luncheon of 2010. The Rovers have built a reputation as having one of the best luncheons in the Amateurs. Enjoy a great meal before the big game for just $25 per head. During the lunch we will be honouring a club servant for 60 years continuous service. Click Here for all the details. Stick around after the game where the Rovers Bar will be open until late. All supporters are encouraged to stick around for a drink to round off the season. The players function gets under at around 7:30pm.
