Rovers host ladder-leaders

The Hampton Rovers return home for the first time in a month to take on Old Carey who currently sit on top of the VAFA Premier B ladder. Meanwhile in the Reserves David Anderson will become the fourth Rovers player to play 200 VAFA games this season.

With last week’s 10-point loss to Uni Blacks, the Rovers finals hopes all but ended, but the boys are looking to finish the season strong and build momentum for B Section in 2011 with the Rovers all but consolidated their position in the second division of the VAFA next year. The closeness of the ladder has seen team positions change week to week. Old Carey currently sit equal top with St Kevins.

Last time the two teams met, it was the Rovers who got up by 15 points in a very good win out at the Carey Sports Complex. An upset is not out of the question this Saturday so make sure you get along and show your support for the Rovers.

It’s a special day for David Anderson who plays his 200th VAFA game for the Hampton Rovers when he runs out for the Reserves on Saturday. He’ll be joined by Stephen Anderson who’s also pulling on the boots. The Rovers have had four players this year reach this outstanding milestone (also Anton Duddy, Gerrard Woods and Adam Power), all of which will be honoured at the Past and Present Players Night on Saturday-week at the club (click here for details and to book online). Get along to Boss James Reserves at 11:30am to see David run out on to the ground in his milestone game.

Already there are 65 people confirmed for the lunch so it promises to be a big day. Final bookings are now being taken for the second-last home game luncheon of the year. Click Here for details.

Please note entry to the hill via Thorburn Street is currently closed due to weather damage to prevent further cars getting bogged! Please enter via the David Street entrance.

For those unable to get to the ground, live scores will be available by following @HRAFC on Twitter.

Stick around after the game where the Bar will be open until late. The players function gets underway at 7:30pm.

The Under 19’s take on De La Salle away. There has been a late change to the match details. The match was previously scheduled for 9:30am at Waverley Park but will now be played at Dunlop Street Reserve (Melways reference 60 A11) – next to Darling Station, and will commence at 12 noon.
