Rovers host St Bernards

The Hampton Rovers play their second home game in as many weeks this Saturday when they host fifth-placed St Bernards at Boss James Reserve.

Amazingly the Rovers are so far winless from their opening three home games of 2010 and are unbeaten away from home. They have hosted three quality sides though in Old Haileybury, Old Ivanhoe and University Blacks who all sit in the top four. A win is due for the green and gold, and the players will be looking to continue their form from their 10-goal final quarter last week into this Saturday.

All Rovers supporters are encouraged down to Boss James Reserve to show their support in this important game. The Reserves get underway at 11:40am followed by the Seniors at 2:00pm.

The best Pre-Game Luncheon in the Ammo’s commences at 12:30pm and we encourage everyone to come along for a great meal prior to the game. The cost is just $25 per person and also includes your first drink free. We send a special invite out to those parents and supporters who haven’t attended a luncheon in the past. We promise you will be impressed! Please book by Thursday evening either online (click here) or by contacting Jenny Voss on 0411 773 511.

Live Scores from the Seniors are available by following @HRAFC on Twitter or via Rovers Live. For those FourSquare users out there, make sure you sign-in to Hampton Rovers Football Club when you arrive at Boss James Reserve on Saturday!

The Thirds will be looking for their first win of the season when they take on Kew away at Victoria Park in Kew, commencing at 11:40am. The Under 19’s face up against Collegians at 2pm at Harry Trott Oval (Albert Park).

The Hampton Rovers Bar will be open from the final siren of the Seniors until late and everyone is welcome back to the club for a drink. Match presentations for all teams will take place at 5:30pm

UMPIRE APPRECIATION WEEKEND

It’s time to show some appreciation for our men (and women) in white. This weekend has been designated Umpire Appreciation Weekend.

The VAFA encourages all players, coaches, administrators and supporters of our great game to appreciate the efforts of nearly 300 umpires who officiate our games every weekend.

All umpires who officiate our game do so with the best intentions of implementing the “Laws of the Game” to the best of their ability.

This weekend we look to show our appreciation for the boys, girls, men and women who take up the challenge of umpiring our game.

Players, coaches, administrators, volunteers, supporters and everyone involved in our game have an impact on the match day environment – and it should be a positive impact.

Something the Hampton Rovers AFC has promoted in 2010 is “Passion without Abuse” and we encourage all supporters to keep this in mind – not only this weekend, but every weekend.
