Oakleigh Rivalry Resumes

The Hampton Rovers are on the road this weekend taking on local rivals Oakleigh at Scammell Reserve in Round 4 of the 2010 VAFA Premier B season.

The two clubs have built up quite a rivalry over the past four years. In their six meetings, each team has won three – that includes two finals: the 2007 D1 Grand Final which Oakleigh won and the 2008 C Grade Preliminary Final which the Rovers won in a thriller. For Oakleigh, this year is the first time they’ve ever competed in the second highest division of the VAFA, and they’ve started well with a 2-1 record. The Rovers have been depleted by injury but hope to regain a few players and put on a good showing this week.

The Reserves get underway at 11:40am followed by the Seniors at 2:00pm. Live Scores will be available via Rovers Live or following @HRAFC on Twitter. Supporters can now also receive scores and ladders via SMS on Saturday evenings – refer to Friday’s Rovers eNewsletter for details.

The Thirds and Under 19’s are at Boss James Reserve. The Thirds first up at 11:40am taking on local rivals Ormond, followed by the Under 19’s vs Old Mentonians at 2pm.

Don’t forget the first senior function of 2010 on Saturday evening back at the club – LADIES NIGHT. Click Here for details.
