The Hampton Rovers failed to get out of first gear as they went down to Ajax at Mentone Grammar Playing Fields on Sunday. All the focus is now on Round One vs Old Essendon in two weeks time.
After a good win last week over Donvale, more of the same was expected, even with at least six regulars missing from the line-up. But it was Ajax who looked more determined and ended getting up by seven goals in drizzly conditions at Keysborough.
It was more positive news for the Reserves who defeated Ajax by 101 points meanwhile the Under 19s were defeated by a similar margin.
Luckily for the Seniors it was just a practice game and the focus firmly remains on Round One away at Old Essendon. The countdown is now well and truly on with less that two weeks until the opening game of the 2010 VAFA Premier B season. There are no games next week due to the Easter long weekend.
An intra-club practice game will be held at Boss James Reserve this Wednesday evening. Training will also be held Tuesday night (no Thursday training this week).
