Monday was the first day of autumn and also the first Rovers training session of the year at Boss James Reserve. As we edge closer to the new season, the first practice game of 2010 against Ocean Grove is now less than two weeks away.
From this point on, all training will be held at Boss James Reserve commencing at 6pm. At this stage on Mondays and Wednesdays but itll revert to Tuesdays and Thursdays once cricket commitments are finished for the season at the ground (likely to be one or two weeks).
Another strong turnout of over 60 players attended Mondays session and all the players are keen and looking forward to a big year for the club. Matt Robbins has settled in well as new senior coach and the feeling around the club and playing group is as good as its ever been. All players that havent attended yet are strongly encouraged to come down for a run. Any new players are also more than welcome to join in.
While the goal posts are still several weeks from being erected, the surface at Boss James is looking much better than the previous two years. Its still on the road to recovery and will only improve in the lead-up to the 2010 season. Training is being held exclusively on the better half of the ground on the Bluff Road side.
