2009 Annual General Meeting

Jim Westhead was voted in as the new Hampton Rovers AFC President at Wednesday’s Annual General Meeting while Phil Bourke took the reigns of the Juniors for the 2010 season.

A nudge over 30 people attended Boss James Reserve for the 2009 meeting to hear the going-on’s from the past year. A number of changes at committee level took place while a special award was also presented. New Rovers coach Matthew Robbins was also introduced to those in attendance and gave a quick report on pre-season so far and the season ahead.

Mathew Oswald from Under 13 East was awarded the Wylie Austin Trophy for 2009 for being the best Hampton Rovers junior player in a finals series. Mathew joins an esteemed group of players that have won the award and gone on to play seniors at the Hampton Rovers Football Club.

After two fine years in control, Tim Wilson stood down due to other commitments, but will continue on the senior committee looking after player recruitment.

With Jim Westhead formerly the Chairman of the Board of Management, Paul Pavlou will step into his position in 2010. Paul has previously had a big involvement in both the seniors and more recently the juniors and will continue to push our one-club culture.

Vice President’s Cameron Voss and Max Grimmer will continue in their roles, as will Secretary Lachlan Wheeler. While a replacement Treasurer for Cath Campion wasn’t announced on the night, Nick Williams has since put up his hand and is expected to be sworn in at the next opportunity. The senior committee also welcomes Brian Ambler who’ll look after Sponsorship and Lee Smith returns as Bar Manager.

As well as Phil Bourke as Junior President, Brett Yorgey and Peter Casey were announced as Junior Vice President’s for 2010. Annie Westhead will continue as Secretary while Steve Morris is the new Treasurer.
