Rovers to face Blacks first up

The 2009 VAFA B Section fixture has been released with the Hampton Rovers opening the season against relegated A Section side University Blacks at Boss James Reserve on April 18.

Two away games will then following against St Bernards (on Anzac Day) and St Kevins. Old Haileybury will visit Boss James in Round 8 in what’s sure to be a big game.

After its success in 2008, VAFA Rivalry Round will again take place on Community Football Weekend (Round 9) with no AFL games scheduled. No doubt one of the biggest rivalries in the VAFA, the Rovers will take on Ormond once again, however this time at E.E. Gunn Reserve. The Rovers will have to wait until the final round for the return visit of Ormond to David Street.

The Rovers play three of their final four games of the season at home, with a visit to Junction Oval against Old Melburnians in Round 17.

All section have a bye over the June long weekend (June 6th) while A and B section will also have a bye on July 18th. All sections excluding D4 will have a three-week finals series.
