The fierce rivalry that has developed between the Hampton Rovers and Oakleigh over the past two seasons will this Saturday come to an end for the time being. As of 4:30pm, one club will have booked their spot in the Grand Final and B Section for 2009, while the other will face another season in C Section. Make sure you get along to Trevor Barker Oval this SATURDAY to support the Rovers in the VAFA C Section Preliminary Final.
The Rovers-Krushers rivalry has been an intense and at time controversial one over the past two years. In home and away fixtures, the record is all square at 2-2. In finals, the teams have met once, the 2007 Grand Final where a bruised and battered Rovers outfit was totally outplayed on the day.
The Rovers are now out for revenge in the form of a Preliminary Final victory to book a spot in the 2008 C Section Grand and a return to B Section for the 2009 season. The minor premiers went down to Ormond by 19 points last Saturday in the 2nd Semi Final while Oakleigh defeated Ajax in the 1st Semi.
A big crowd is expected at Trevor Barker Oval and it promises to be a cracker of a game and we need all Rovers supporters to come along and get behind the boys – make sure you wear your Rovers colours.
The big game gets underway at 2pm this Saturday at Trevor Barker Oval, Beach Road Sandringham. After the game, head back to Boss James Reserve where the Bar will be open until late.
