David Parkin, Ross Smith and Mick Malthouse have been announced as guest speakers for the Rivalry Round Luncheon at Boss James Reserve next Saturday when the Hampton Rovers host Ormond. The Luncheon is certain to sell out with over 100 seats already booked. Capacity will be capped at 150.
Ross Smith is the most decorated player ever to wear the green and gold, winning the Brownlow Medal with St Kilda in 1967. Smith captained the Saints for three years from 1970 and won two B&F’s at the club, he also captained Victoria in 1972.
David Parkin played 211 games with Hawthorn where he won one B&F, was premiership captain in 1971 and represented Victoria on 5 occasions. Parkins coaching career was just as stellar leading the Hawks, Carlton as well as Fitzroy, and named Carlton’s Coach of the Century.
Both players also played against each other in the VAFA with Smith at the Rovers and Parkin at Melbourne High. David is still involved in the Amateurs, on the coaching panel at University Blacks.
The Ormond game is shaping up as one of the biggest ever home games at Boss James Reserve with a huge crowd predicted. The Luncheon has almost reached capacity however there are still a very limited number of seats remaining.
