Grand Final rematch to kick-off 2008

Hampton Rovers will have the chance to get their revenge on Oakleigh first up after the 2008 VAFA Fixture released today revealed the Grand Final rematch will take place in Round 1 at Boss James Reserve. The season opener at home is just one of several highlights in the Rovers return to C Section in 2008.

As part of the 150th year of Australian Football celebrations, the VAFA will be holding a Rivalry Round in Round 5. Two of the VAFA’s greatest district clubs in Hampton Rovers and Ormond will resume their rivalry in what’s set to be a massive game at Hampton’s Boss James Reserve.

Two away games will follow with the long trek to Rupertswood followed by the clash against Melbourne High who were relegated from B grade in 2007.

The following round will see the resumption of another big rivalry when the Rovers go head to head with Ajax at the Boss in what promises to attract another big crowd. The Rovers will play two home games in successive weeks taking on Whitefriars in Round 9 to complete the first round of matches for the year.

Scammell Reserve and Oakleigh then await Hampton the following week where the Rovers will be looking to repeat their thrilling 3-point win in 2007. Two home games follow against Monash and Melbourne High before heading to VAFA HQ’s to take on Ajax.

The other big home game is against Parkdale Vultures in Round 16. The Rovers finish the home and away season at home against Rupertswood on August 23.
