Rovers defeat Old Camberwell in second practice game

Hampton Rovers AFC defeated Old Camberwell by 7 points in their second practice game of 2005 at Boss James Reserve on Saturday. Hot and blustery conditions made scoring difficult and this showed on the scoreboard with several shots on goal sprayed to the side.

Both teams still had many senior players out of their line-ups and the game was a scrappy affair but still vital practice in the lead-up to the 2005 VAFA season.

Playing in his first game since returning from interstate, former Sandringham captain Heath Tregear put in a good performance for the home side, while there were many other good efforts around the ground.

Earlier in the day, the Reserves had a close defeat while the Under 19’s also went down.

The Rovers have now won two from two going into their final practice match next Saturday against Beaumaris at Banksia Reserve. Reserves at 11:45am, and Seniors at 2:00pm. The Under 19’s game has been moved to Boss James Reserve with a 12:30pm start.
