Rovers defeat Ormond

After seven consecutive defeats the Rovers finally found their lost form to convincingly beat a lack lustre Ormond by 8 goals.

However, as the match proceeded and a Rovers victory was imminent, the celebrations at the end of the game virtually blew the roof off the Boss James pavilion.

The Rovers after been bagged by the media as lacking in team spirit were determined to set the record straight by attacking from the first bounce and running in numbers to minimise Ormond’s opportunities.

Adam Power at full forward had a dream day bagging 7 goals and was well supported by captain Steve Anderson and stalwart Steve Helliger sharing a further 5. Once again the “Doctor” Anderson was the main cog in the Rovers machine as he easily outgunned several opponents throughout the day.

Prior to the game the Rovers players were made well aware of the stakes (relegation) if their losing streak continued .They can now face the remaining 6 games with some optimism.

Next week is an away game against Old Paradians who are struggling against lower sides and the Rovers must be considered a chance to go 2 up for the season.

GOALKICKERS: Power 7, S.Anderson 3, S.Helliger 2, Browne, Connelly, D.Anderson, L.Fletcher 1.
