The Rovers U19s continues their strong start to the 2019 season, defeating PEGS by 81 points in an early game out at Keilor Park on Saturday morning.
A very even performance from the entire side made awarding BOG genuinely difficult this week – it could easily have gone to 3 or 4 lads.
Ben Marron was given the nod due to his high possession count and clearances from the middle, plus two goals and numerous goal ‘assists’ helped his cause.
Sam Seach (playing up from U17’s) was sublime with his pinpoint kicking and beautiful delivery into the forward line. A goal to Sam as well and probably unlucky not to snag a few more.
A genuine highlight of the game was the fantastic 6 goals to Max Coughlin in a true Captain’s game, not to mention his strong overhead marking and general pressure around the stoppages.
Tom Goldsmith was strong in his 150th and is going from strength to strength each game – always hard at the ball and is the consummate team player.
A very welcome return to the Rovers by Chris Perkins and Lachie Fraser saw them both continue with the quality football we’ve seen in previous years. Great to have these lads back at the Club.
Honourable mentions to another of our U17’s lads, Ross Sklavenitis who is playing football beyond his years and Mo Labib who is totally new to AFL and proving quite the instinctive footballer – selling the candy (repeatedly), putting on great blocks and already pinching a few sneaky goals.
Great work fellas!!
With such solid teamwork, it bodes well for a solid 2019 season.
