Rovers first hit-out against Dalyston

The Hampton Rovers had their first hit-out of the season on Saturday when almost 40 players made the trip down the coast to take on Alberton Football League club Dalyston.

The Rovers had a narrow 5 point loss going down 11.6.72 to 12.5.77, however it was a positive performance with a makeshift line-up including many playing their first senior game. After leading for most of the game and setting up a good lead, the home side came back in the final term and snatched a win with the last kick of the day.

The majority of the team stayed on for the night and followed up Sunday morning with a recovery session. All-in-all it was a great weekend with many positives coming from the trip and the Rovers look forward to their next practice game in two week’s time.

The Rovers thank the Dalyston Football Club for hosting us and we wish them well for the 2007 season.

Next week’s game against Monash Blues has been cancelled as a result on Monash University closing all their playing fields due to the drought. At this stage the game the following week away against EDFL club East Keilor is still going ahead and we?re aiming to schedule a game the week before the postponed season commences.

Training continues Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at Sandringham Secondary College, Holloway Road Sandringham from 6pm. New and past players are welcome.
