Browny to captain Rovers in 2005

Anthony Browne was announced as club captain for the 2005 season at Thursday night’s Senior Jumper Presentation Night. Anthony takes over the reins from Michael Fletcher who stood aside after two years at the helm.

Anthony made his Hampton Rovers debut in 1987 and has played over 230 games for the club, including over 140 senior games.

Gerrard Woods was announced as vice captain, while Gary Carr and Matthew Lawrence were both announced as deputy vice-captains. Anthony Quon will again lead the Reserves following their premiership year in 2004, with Matthew Gray as vice captain.

Thursday night’s event was well attended and all is in readiness for the new season. Guest speaker was former Rovers & St.Kilda player and current chief sports editor for The Australian, Chip LeGrand.

The Rovers take on Ajax this Saturday at Boss James Reserve in round 1 of the 2005 VAFA season.
