Rovers overrun Highett in practice game

Hampton Rovers defeated Southern Football League division one club Highett by 64 points at Boss James Reserve on Saturday.

 

Played under hot conditions, the first practice game of 2005 provided the Rovers with some valuable game time. Sam Parkinson, Drew Anderson and Jason Zampaglione all made there club returns after playing in the England while Luke Woolrich played for the first time following a season in the United States.

 

Michael ?Chief? Fletcher dominated in the forward line for the Rovers leading the goal kickers list, including a superb effort in the 2nd quarter running all around the Highett opposition to kick a goal.

 

The Rovers still have many senior players to return to the line-up in the lead-up to the new VAFA season.

 

There are no games next weekend due to the Easter break. Following this will be matches against Old Camberwell at Boss James Reserve on April 2 and then Beaumaris away at Banksia Reserve on April 9.

 

The 2005 VAFA season kicks-off on April 16 with the Hampton Rovers taking on Ajax at Boss James Reserve.
