The Rovers Under 10 South team had a very good season during the home and away rounds, the boys lost their first game and then bounced back to win the next ten in a row then in round twelve we had our second loss for the year, (?the loss we had to have as they say?). But in our final round the Rovers came back with a vengeance and won.
Then it was onto the Lightening Premiership, a big big day for those who are involved, parents and players all quietly that what happened through the season was only the warm up to the flag, alas it was not meant to be, we were beaten in rounds one and two thus making us ineligible for any finals positions. So we had to finish the day playing a game that no bearing on anyones finals hopes. It was a case of lets go and have some fun and to the boys credit and sportsmanship, they did and the day finished with what I believe it is all about, fun and having a kick with your mates.
On a different note now I would like to thank a number of people for their help and support through out the year.
Thank you to our Team Managers Caterina Zanca and Jenny Young,
Tony Gale Assistant Coach / Runner,
Garry Young for the drink bottles, and stand in Runner,
all the parents for their small but important part in roles of Timekeeper, Escort, and Goal Umpire, but most of all thanks boys for trying your best every week and for just having fun.
