On Saturday the Rovers played 2nd placed Whitefriars at Donvale and were no match to the talent that the Old Boys showed on their own turf going down by 10 Goals.
The effort put in by the Rovers in the 1st Quarter was commendable. With a lead of 7 points by the break they looked confident enough to carry on the hard tackling and long kicking to challenge the Friars lacklustre performance of several of their star players.
However, the confidence was short lived as the Friars piled on 9 Goals to Rovers zero in the 2nd to take complete control of the game. The Rovers coaching brigade during this Quarter were at wit’s end as they moved several players in an endeavour to stop the barrage of forward attacks by the Friar’s star players who had been checked in the 1st Quarter.
Overall the Rovers were not up to the standard and with the Friars outscoring them by 11 to 8 Goals in the last half they looked a sorry and leg weary side by the final siren. An injury received by
