Media Report on USFOOTY.COM (26/11/02):

The USAFL is pleased to announce Josh Loring, of the Lehigh Valley Crocodiles, as the winner of the 2003 QANTAS AFL Scholarship. The scholarship is a great reward for the many years of hard work that Josh has put into developing Australian Football, both personally and with the Lehigh team. Josh will be flown to Melbourne, thanks to a generous donation by QANTAS Airways. There he will spend 3 weeks doing pre-season training with the Essendon Bombers and their legendary coach Kevin Sheedy.

Josh Loring

Introduced to the game four years ago by Lehigh coach Rob Giabardo, then his track coach in High School, Josh’s footy resume speaks for itself. President and club delegate of Lehigh for the past two years, he has traveled to two Administrators Conferences, was instrumental in organizing this year’s inaugural NEAFL season and represented the Revolution for the third time at this year’s International Cup. His continually improved and consistent performances throughout the Cup saw him rewarded with playing in every game and being rated amongst the best players on the tour.

Josh has organized nearly every Lehigh interstate trip and after match function at home games for the last three years. Having only just turned 21, he was finally allowed to stay at one of his own functions for the first time earlier this year!

Following in the footsteps of teammate Dustin Jones and Cincinnati’s Jeremy Kraus, Josh knows he has some big shoes to fill. ?I?ve paid my own way over three times, twice for summer pre-seasons with the Hampton Rovers, then the Sandringham Dragons, and of course the Revolution tour. Now I get to train with the best for three weeks! It goes to show you that if you put in the effort, the rewards will come! I just hope that I can be as good as Dustin and Jeremy were.?

If dedication and commitment are anything to go by, Josh will not only fill his predecessors shoes, he will expand them. There’s no doubt he’s a worthy recipient and will be a great ambassador for USFooty. He just has to continue on with what he’s already been doing. Working hard!
