Rovers come thumping back to earth

After a great start to the season with an opening win, Norm Goss and his boys made the long journey to Brunswick Oval to face North Old Boys.

The experience of several years in A and B grade was too much for the Rovers and they were beaten in most positions.

Rovers Browne, Duddy and Drew Anderson were fine contributors for the four quarters and backline players Zampaglione, Woods and Helliger tried tirelessly despite the second half onslaught by North Old Boys.

Game score now stands at a win and a loss and the Rovers will be keen to face old foes Ormond next week.

Final scores  Hampton Rovers 12.9 (81) North Old Boys 19.14 (128)

The Reserves and Under 19 sides also went down but the Club XVIII got their first points on the board by defeating Old Geelong 18.5 (113) to 11.13 (79) with McMillan booting 5 and Boyle 3.
