On Saturday the Rovers faced up to the fast improving Mazenod and despite last minute changes to the side due to injury withdrawals by in form onballer Campbell McKeller and key forward Michael Davey they fought out the game to the last minute.
The Rovers second half could be rated as probably their best for the season as they racked up 60 plus possessions over their first half debacle when Mazenod outscored them by 8 goals.
Newcomers James McCarthy, Lochie Wheeler and Tim Woodruff attacked the ball at every opportunity and were the driving impetus behind the Rovers second half revival. The effort from these three seemed to lift the performance of several out of form experienced team mates.
Again, a champion performance by Rovers ruckman Anthony Browne must put him in strong contention for club and B grade Best and Fairest.
Next Saturday the Rovers are at home to Old Essendon and must win this contest to keep their chances alive for a further year at B grade level. Coach Norm Goss is quietly optimistic that next weeks side, with the return of injured players and the marked improvement of several others will give the opposition a severe run for their money.
All supporters are requested to attend the pre game luncheon and to get behind YOUR team to ensure a much needed victory. Bookings must be made through Jenny Voss.
