The end of the year has arrived, and a hugely successful year for the Rovers Juniors it has been.
With over 425 players playing games across 18 teams for the Rovers this year, the year has been hugely successful. Furthermore, 6 of the 9 older age teams participated in finals, with 9 teams taking part in Lighting Carnivals.
Following on from the Under 12 teams taking part in the Grand Finals for the North and West Divisions last week, this week the Under 15 Division 1 and Under 16 Division 1 teams took part in Grand Finals for their respective divisions.

UNDER 15 DIVISION 1 RESULTS |
The Under 15 Division 1 team took on their 2011 nemesis, East Malvern. The boys started well and matched the boys from East Malvern for the first, trailing slightly at quarter time, but looking forward to kicking with the wind in the 2nd Quarter.
In the 2nd Quarter, the East Malvern boys displayed their class and whilst kicking inaccurately, still managed to outscore the Rovers to lead by 15 points at half time into the wind. With a 2 goal deficit at ½ time, the boys were still in the hunt.
East Malvern came out firing in the 3rd Quarter, and with a 5 goal to 1 effort, put the game beyond the reach of the Rovers. The boys fought gallantly in the last quarter, but were unable to bridge the gap:

UNDER 16 DIVISION 1 RESULTS |
Ok, then onto the Under 16 Grand Final, and the fourth Grand Final a Rovers team participating. The game started well with the Rovers boys attacking the game well into what was now a slight breeze. Two early goals and a lead in place, and things looked good. Then wham, somehow against the run of the play, two goals to Beast Brighton and behind we are.
Coach Ronnie was still confident, and the boys took over in the 2nd Quarter. Unfortunately, the domination of the game did not reflect on the score board, and after 13 inside 50s to a couple, somehow the East Brighton were in front at the main break.
The East Brighton boys displayed their class in the 3rd quarter, having gained a sniff after a half time discussion. They took over in the 3rd dig, and were able to extend their lead to 3 goals at ¾ time. A supreme effort was required, and the boys took to the task, but by then the opposition were full of confidence and could do no wrong. Final scores were:

Both teams conducted themselves with honour and pride in the post match presentations, displaying excellent sportsmanship. Whilst disappointed, they and their coaches knew they had a great year and played some great footy. Onward for next year!!
