Rovers set record for Match Day Functions in 2024

The Rovers played their ninth and final senior home game on Saturday at our home away from home this year, also hosting the club’s ninth Luncheon of the season, attracting record numbers for the club.

Hampton Rovers remain one of only a few clubs in the VAFA to host a sit-down match day function at every senior home game. This has been the case for decades now, with only Covid forcing a temporary halt.

With the Wright-Scarlett Pavilion at Boss James Reserve being out of action in 2024 due to its redevelopment, the club was fortunate to lock in Sandringham’s Trevor Barker Oval, eventually for all nine home games thanks to Monash and Glen Eira for allowing home fixtures to be swapped around.

Sandringham’s function centre – Sandy by the Bay – is the base of our long-term caterers, ASAT, allowing the famous Rovers Home Game Luncheon’s to not only continue, but thrive in 2024, complete with amazing views of the on-field action and across the Bay.

Approximately 900 people have attended the Rovers’ nine home game functions this season, which is a record for the club. This featured several sell-outs including the Women’s Luncheon earlier in the year for BCNA, while Saturday’s final function attracted 120 as we celebrated the 2004 and 1984 Premierships.

We’ve welcomed club members, players parents, current and past players, parents of junior players and opposition supporters over the season, enjoying the best lunch in the Ammo’s.

The club thanks everyone for their support at our home games at Trevor Barker Oval this year, and the Sandringham Football Club for being so welcoming. We’ll return to Sandy by the Bay for our Presentation Night on Friday October 11.

A big thank you also to our President, Gary Nash, who is the main man behind the luncheon’s – taking bookings, allocating tables, welcoming people and taking payments on the day and MC duties!

The club looks forward to returning to our home base at Boss James Reserve, in our newly renovated facilities in 2025, and continuing to host match day functions for every senior home game.

While the final home game has been run and won (a big win for the seniors over top-placed Ajax), there’s still plenty of the season remaining, with four consecutive away games for the seniors, before finals kick-off. Four of our five senior teams are likely to feature.

Continue to show your support and Go Rovers!
