Seniors

Rovers v Old Geelong at Como Park

Hampton Rovers take on Old Geelong in round 13 VAFA action at Como Park this Saturday. Match times have been changed for both games and there are parking restrictions at the venue.

It’s a big day for Old Geelong with four games being staged from 8:45am onwards. Meaning the Reserves will now commence at 12:30pm and consist of four 20 minute quarters and the Seniors will kick-off at 2:30pm with quarter lengths as per normal. The club is also hosting a Ladies Luncheon however opposition supporters aren’t invited.

There is also extremely limited parking at and near Como Park so players and supporters are encouraged to car pool. The drive into the ground can only be used for drop-offs (via Williams Road/Alexandra Avenue). General parking close to the ground is available in Bruce Street, and also in Como Avenue which leads off Toorak Road, although parking congestion is often considerable throughout the area. Another option can be in Alexandra Avenue in the vicinity of Como Park North. A map of the area can be viewed here.

We encourage all supporters to get along and cheer on the Rovers in what is another important game. Earlier in the season, Hampton defeated Old Geelong at Boss James Reserve with a goal inside the last minute. After a lean patch, the Rovers finally returned to the winners board last week under Anthony Quon’s first game in charge as senior coach. The boys played with confidence and will be looking to keep that going this Saturday at South Yarra.

If you’re unable to make the trip, then keep up-to-date with live scores on the Rovers website and mobile site, plus updates on Twitter and Instagram.

Also on Saturday, the Under 19 first host Old Geelong at Boss James Reserve commencing at 2:00pm and prior to that, the Under 19 seconds face Peninsula Old Boys at 11:40am. If you’re unable to get to Como Park then head down to the Boss to see the young Rovers in action.

The Women’s side is in action on Sunday against Melbourne University at McAlister Oval on Park Street in Parkville – view map. The match commences at 11:40am.

Next Saturday (July 29) is a big one at Boss James Reserve. Dubbed Super Saturday, the Reserves and Seniors take on Marcellin, followed by the Women’s side v Mazenod in a twilight match. There’s also the President’s Luncheon and Salvo’s Shuffle Night function later in the night – view full details.
