We’ve kicked off for 2016 – I hope everyone enjoyed our first session, and welcome to our newcomers.
To all our Auskickers for season 2016 – a warm welcome! We had a fantastic first session last week with plenty of great skills, drills and games seen already.
SESSION INFORMATION
What time do I arrive?
The session will start at 9am, prior to that our coaches and co-ordinators will be setting up, but feel free to bring your own footy and have a kick up to 15 mins before kick off time. Our sessions finish at 10:30 am and providing the Rovers aren’t playing a home game after the session, you are welcome to stay on a have a kick (byo footy)
Where do I go?
Each session will be run at Boss James Reserve, David St Hampton (unless otherwise communicated). When you first arrive, go onto the field for a kick of the footy (byo footy) and then a 9am the coaches will blow the whistle to bring kids AND parents into a huddle on the ground.
What do I need to wear?
There are no specific rules about uniform for Auskick sessions. The kids just need to wear comfortable clothing, however the majority of kids will wear their team footy Jerseys, short and socks. Runners are ok in the first couple of weeks, but once the ground gets slippery or muddy, you’ll find that they will need some footy boots.
What do I need to bring?
- a footy if you want to have a kick before or after the session…
- a piece of fruit – this gets chopped up and the kids have a fruit break at half time
- a drink bottle – it is important to keep the kids well hydrated and there are no bubble taps at the ground
HELPERS NEEDED!!!
Getting involved is Auskick is good for you and great for your kids.
Auskick is a volunteer run program so we need parents to be involved both on and off the field. You don’t need specific skills, you’ll make great friendships and learn a lot along the way.
Here’s how you can join the fun…
- Parent helpers on the field – our training coaches need lots of parent helpers to support the kids in the skills, drills and games. You don’t need any skills and we’ll give you a t-shirt, hat and whistle so you’ll immediately look the part!
- On-field photographer – bring along your camera or smart phone and snap some shots of the action to upload to our facebook site and capture some of the golden moments
- Fruit choppers – each week we need mum’s, dad’s family and friends to volunteer to chop up the fruit that the kids bring along for 1/2 time.
For all the above roles, send an email or speak to myself or one of the co-ordinators on the day to volunteer… you might be approached to lend a hand – so please be willing to get involved!
