Parkdale down Rovers

The Rovers suffered a disappointing 7-point defeat at the hands of Parkdale away at Gerry Green Reserve on Saturday in a great exhibition of C section football by the players.

There was never more than two or three goals the difference on the scoreboard throughout the day, but it was the home side who kicked a couple of late goals to snatch the match.

Parkdale kicked 4 goals to the Rovers 3 in the opening term to lead by 8 points. The scenario was reversed in the second quarter and at the main break it was 7 goals apiece with the home side leading by 1 solitary point.

Both sides put 2 goals each on the scoreboard in the third and at the final break, it was Parkdale leading Hampton by 2 points.

The large crowd was treated to more exciting footy in the final term with fast paced action, good skills and plenty of scoring opportunities. However some poor umpiring decisions put a bit of a dampener on the game.

The Rovers managed 5 goals in the last quarter however it was the home side who kicked 6 majors, including 3 from free kicks in front of goal, to take the game by a slight margin.
