2009 Pre-Season Training has got underway on a positive note with numbers pushing 40 for the first session in hot conditions on Wednesday, following Monday's players meeting where around 60 attended.

Devereaux Rovers Best

Mark Devereaux won his first Hampton Rovers Best and Fairest award, finishing the year on 124 votes, a massive 52 votes ahead of second placed Jason Zampaglione. Mark, along with the other two winners, received the inaugural Hampton Rovers Best and Fairest medallions, in front of a full-house at a fantastic Presentation Night on Saturday.

Sheldon re-appointed for 2009

The Hampton Rovers AFC is pleased to announce senior coach Gary Sheldon has been re-appointed for the 2009 season. Gary has done a superb job with the Rovers lifting them team from D1 to B Section in his two years at the club.

Fletcher fourth in league best and fairest

Hampton Rovers' Leigh Fletcher finished fourth in the VAFA C Section Best and Fairest while Jackson Ward also finished fourth in the Under 19 South 2 vote count, at the 2008 VAFA Presentation Night held on Monday evening at Telstra Dome.

The fierce rivalry that has developed between the Hampton Rovers and Oakleigh over the past two seasons will this Saturday come to an end for the time being. As of 4:30pm, one club will have booked their spot in the Grand Final and B Section for 2009, while the other will face another season in C Section. Make sure you get along to Trevor Barker Oval this SATURDAY to support the Rovers in the VAFA C Section Preliminary Final.

Top season for Rovers Juniors

It has been an outstanding year for the Hampton Rovers Football Club, both on and off the field, and the junior teams have had outstanding success with eight of a possible nine teams making the finals resulting in four premierships, while five players won their respective league best and fairests.

Ormond are the first team through to the C Section Grand Final after they defeated the Hampton Rovers by 19 points in the 2nd Semi Final at Junction Oval. The Rovers now face Oakleigh in the Preliminary Final this Saturday at Trevor Barker Oval to see who will join Ormond in the decider.

After a heavy defeat in the 2007 D Section Grand Final, questions were asked as to how the Rovers would respond in C Section in 2008. Some eleven months later, the Rovers have secured the minor premiership and look forward to the 2nd Semi Final against Ormond at the Junction Oval.
